Compound Setae of a Sea Spider: An Adaptation for Grooming

My partner and I traveled around the US last spring visiting natural refuges and National Parks. Since South Padre Island is world-renowned as an important bird migration site, I was more than excited to visit the multiple wildlife refuges of the area. These stilts were definitely our highlight. Their exceptionally long bright pink legs make them so elegant. They often hang out with American avocets creating such a stunning contrast of colours in the water.
