Compound Setae of a Sea Spider: An Adaptation for Grooming
Category: Vertebrates
Amboseli National Park is home to large numbers of African savanna elephants. I spent two days in Amboseli and was lucky enough to see this majestic species on both days, but it wasn't until the second day when I had the opportunity to photograph these two individuals' trunks touching each other! The trunks are important for gathering food, detecting smell, blowing water onto the elephant's body to cool themselves down, but also social interactions such as greeting and caressing.
