The width of the above bar represents a year, with the first letters of the months displayed. If a mushroom is not in fruiting season, the time has a dark background. Where the colour shows through represents when a fruiting body (the "mushroom") is more likely to be found. In the above diagram, the mushrooms can be found in fall, most commonly from September to December.
In this diagram, the mushroom can be found most often in late fall, and less commonly in spring.
