Saori Ogura

Saori Ogura is a traveller, artist, and a scholar. She has been working with Indigenous and local communities in India, Zimbabwe, and Japan, using art to revitalize their ancestral millet cultivation. Her passion is to understand the meaning of the millet cultivation, and help support the local communities to pass down the ancestral seeds and knowledge to younger generations. Saori was the recipient of the 2017 Nikon Salon Miki Jun Inspiration Award for her photographs documenting her time living in India’s Eastern Himalaya. She is a doctoral student at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
