Magical Moment in the Field

During a field course at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, our class went on a field trip to Wizard Islet. The islet was covered in harbour seals, including mothers with their pups. The mother in this picture was spooked by our motorboat and dove into the water. Once the mother realized her child had not followed, she turned around and gave her pup a reassuring boop to encourage it to follow her into the water.
