Poached Eggs for Breakfast

Sophia Fan

Orange-legged furrow bee (Halictus rubicundus) foraging for a morning snack on a poached egg plant (Limnanthes douglasii). This bee is one of the most common urban sweatbees native to BC, known to forage on a variety of different flowers, including both native plants and non-native ornamentals. Urban gardens such as Riley Park Community Garden can play crucial roles in providing not only resources for pollinators, but spaces for wildlife-conscious gardeners to build community and contribute to insect conservation and food security.
